Understanding Cultural Competency While Working With Diverse Populations
Understanding Cultural Competency While Working with Diverse Populations   As members of the helping profession it is imperative that we address and incorporate multicultural competencies and best practices when dealing with clients who have cultures, beliefs, and ideas that are different than ours. This workshop will be highly interactive and designed to challenge and explore our beliefs as it relate to clients that do not share our culture, beliefs, patterns and/or behaviors. Participants will understand the meaning of culture as it relates to practice and will take from the session an understanding of how as professionals, we must be able to step into the world of our clients. In doing so, we open ourselves to new learning and awareness and most importantly offer services to clients that are in keeping with their individual culture, values, and beliefs.    This training is free; however, registration is required. Eyebrow Threading is a practice of shaping the eyebrows using a cotton thread. The twisting action of the thread traps the hair and lifts it out of the follicle. It’s a very gentle, sanitary, and painless way of removing unwanted facial Hair. It is a common method used in India, China and other Eastern Countries. Threading is also used to remove hair from the upper and lower lip as well as other areas of the face. This method of hair removal is more effective and less painful than tweezing & waxing. Hair re-growth becomes finer and more sparse after regular treatments. In distinction to waxing, the top layers of skin are not peeled or traumatized in the process. The result ...a safe, simple, rapid, and highly effective method of hair removal. Because there is minimal chance of irritation, it is very well suited for the sensitive skin. Overall, Threading is the inexpensive & effective method of hair removal without the increased chances of wrinkles and peeled skin unlike waxing. It also is an excellent option for those guests who cannot wax - such as those who are using Retin-A, Accutane, Renova, etc. Why is Threading better than Waxing or Tweezing? * Threading is more precise and the hair grows back finer and slower. There is no burning, peeling or irritation, and a great remedy for ingrown hair. * Facial threading is good alternative to waxing and tweezing, especially for sensitive skin people who are on Retin A and accutane. * Eyebrow threading not only removes unwanted hair around your eyebrow but also helps to get a precise and defined eyebrow shape according to your facial features. * Most of all, threading exfoliates the skin, giving you a mini facial while the hair is being removed. Threading is a hair removal technique that is the most precise way to remove unwanted facial hair. Threading is not only used on the eyebrows but also on the upper lip, chin, side burns or any area of the face. This technique allows you to take a line of hair out at a time and therefore creates a more defined shape for eyebrows. Many cosmetologists, makeup artists and aestheticians are choosing this method of hair removal for their clients because it can be less painful, more precise and last longer than waxing.
