The holidays are coming folks and that means things are going to get even busier. Did you know that the average weight gain during the holidays is 5 to 8 pounds? We’re here to help you keep off the unwanted weight and to have fun while doing it! This simple event is set up perfectly to motivate you to eat smart, work out and make a difference. While we are working on being fit, we’ll also be working on raising funds for FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN and helping those who really need food this holiday season, and always.
WHAT IS FIT FEST 4 HUNGER?
We challenge you to join us for a month of being healthy and getting fit. We have a list of things for you to do each day to earn points. There are a total of 12 points that can be achieved each day. Get as many as you can!
WHY FIT FEST 4 HUNGER?
To keep you motivated, especially during the busy holiday season. This is a fun and motivating way to eat healthy and get fit. Great for kids too! It’s also a great way to help raise money for charity while being involved in something positive and motivating.
HOW DOES FIT FEST 4 HUNGER WORK?
You pay $4 to join. $3 of each registration will be donated to Feed My Starving Children, an incredibleorganization determined to fight hunger. $1 of each registration will go into a pot. At the end of the month, we will hold a drawing. For every 500 people that sign up, we’re giving away $500! If we get 2,000 people to sign up, then we’ll be giving away four $500 prizes! We know that life can get crazy, and expensive, and we want to give back to YOU!
HOW CAN YOU WIN?
Keep track of your points each day. We’ll have a calendar you can print out to track your points or an Excel sheet for you to keep track of your points electronically. You’ll receive links to both when you sign up. At the end of the month, total up all of your points.
If you have at least 300 points, you’ll get ONE entry into the drawing.
340 points will get you TWO entires.
A perfect score of 372 points will get you THREE entries.
*You must submit your scores by midnight on January 4, 2015! The drawing will be held on Monday, January 5! We’ll email you a link to submit your points when you sign up.

The National Society of Black Engineers – Montgomery Professionals (NSBE-MP) will host its First Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser Event at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, AL on Saturday March 21, 2015. This sponsored event will benefit the NSBE-MP Chapter Scholarship and Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Programs. The proceeds from the event will be used to award scholarship(s) to deserving minority high school seniors and/or college students with the intent of pursuing a technical degree from an accredited college or university; and help fund our PCI Program. The PCI Program is designed to stimulate the interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, or STEM. The goal is to encourage students in grades K–12 to attend college and pursue technical degrees. Our PCI program provides activities to help students discover firsthand how engineering and technology relate to the world around them and discover the excitement of academic excellence, leadership, technical development and teamwork. The PCI program helps develop our future through the young people in our community.

On Autism Legislative Day self-advocates, family members, and professionals visit their legislators to express the overwhelming need for support and services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in Alabama.
If you plan on attending, make a short appointment with your legislator and hand-deliver a written letter. If you cannot attend, mail your letter, send an email, or make a phone call. Bring or send a picture of your loved one. The Science and Technology Open House, hosted annually by Tuskegee University, is an event sponsored by the Alabama Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) organized on behalf of the state-wide Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) grant funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). It is a community outreach program designed to share researchers’ accomplishments from almost all disciplines of science and engineering, from doctoral granting institutions in Alabama including: Alabama State University, Alabama A&M University, Auburn University, Tuskegee University, University of Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Alabama at Huntsville, and the University of South Alabama.
The Open House will provide opportunities to accelerate new research and academic collaborations while targeting the latest research findings, innovations, and implementations of nanotechnology. A research-focused student poster competition will be held during the Science and Technology Open House on January 30, 2015. The competition provides a platform for approximately 150 students to showcase their current or completed research and earn a cash prize.
On Saturday, January 31, 2015, we welcome middle and high school students, administrators and parents, university students, faculty and administrators, community leaders and industrial representatives to attend the open house.

2. ROSTER: Roster will be based on your club roster. We will issue pre printed score sheets for your convenience. After the roster is turned in. No additions can be made to the roster.

TIEBREAKER RULE All Divisions 1) If two teams are tied, the tiebreaker is decided by head-to- head competition. 2) If more than two teams are tied, the tiebreaker is decided by the point differentials of only the teams involved (15 point cap per game). The highest number receives the higher seed and the second highest will receive the next lower seed, ect. 3) If more than two are tied after using the above tiebreaker formula, the point differential of the teams not involved in the tie are added and recalculated (15 point cap per game).
. AGE ELIGIBILITY . • Player/Team Disqualification - All Non-athletes/coaches are responsible to see that their team meets all eligibility requirements. If a player is found to be ineligible prior to the start of competition, the player will be expelled from the competition and the team will continue. If a player is found to be ineligible after the competition has started, the player will be expelled from the competition and the team will forfeit all games in which the ineligible player was listed on the official score sheet. The team may continue to participate, if applicable, without the expelled player.
.• Age Determining Date - This is a grade based event . September 1, 2015 - shall be the determining date for the age of the competitor for all teams participating in the tournament. Eligibility to participate is based first on the age determining date. The grade of the athlete is not a consideration if the athlete meets the age determining date. An athlete who does not meet the age determining date may qualify under the grade exception rule. In the 9U/3rd Grade through the 14U/8th Grade division, each team is allowed a maximum of four grade exception athletes.
. • Grade Confirmation - Players participating under the grade eligibility exception must present a birth certificate and confirmation of grade level from the School report card. NOTE: Grade level is determined by player’s grade on March 1, 2015. ***All coaches are responsible for having birth certificates and proper confirmation of grade level for all players.
